In 1982, I had an exhibition of oil paintings called "Order and Chaos" at Pirate Art Oasis in Denver. I was working with geometric abstraction and imagery that involved perspective grids, geometric objects, three-dimensional illusion and disruption of pattern.

Eventually my preoccupation with geometry and hard edge painting gave way to other interests and pursuits. I had been preoccupied with line in my artwork for quite some time. Line defines a shape or image. Line magically describes a person or thing. Line exists as an edge of surface or line acts as a boundary. I had been attempting to reduce the figure to a simple shape, a "cutout", something similar to a modern petroglyph, hence my interest in silhouettes. I have since used the figure in silhouette for a number of sculptures and paintings. In my current show, "Back to Geometry", I have completed the circle so to speak. I have incorporated geometric imagery, patterns and perspective grids that I was using 27 years ago with silhouettes of figures that I have used recently to produce a new, intriguing series of paintings and drawings.
