ARTIST STATEMENT:   My current series is titled “Language” - reflecting an exploration of line.  Line has motion, emotion and the ability to communicate.  The series reflects the deconstruction of a painting into single brush strokes.  By reducing a painting down to a single element, I am forcing the viewer to find imagery within a linear element, through their own mental framework.  When the viewer finds imagery within the strokes, they are exploring the languages in their own minds; thus, I hesitate to name my paintings and would rather the viewer do so.  By exploring their conception of line, viewers may discuss and explore how we each see the paintings, their language and the world differently from each other.

Originally conceived as a fixed installation, I have instead made the installation part of the actual work of art, thereby giving the pieces portability and the power to express themselves individually.  The pieces also critique the capture of art by industry as each work starkly contrasts industrial materials while highlighting the humanistic, artistic element of line.
