My paintings focus on my interest in color, texture and the mixing of materials to achieve an image that beckons to be examined closly. Working with traditional painting techniques as well as collage and found materials, I like to build my paintings up with color and texture. Some are three-dimensional constructions while others have raised surfaces or employ traditional paintings techniques. I sometimes use shaped canvases to add another element to my work. Besides working with square and rectangular canvases, I also work with round canvases. It’s a shape that has fascinated me from the time I started going to art museums as a youngster. I wanted to put a contemporary twist on them. While in college, it was a shape I worked with and I continue to be intrigued with the shape today.
